Business Manager Patricia Gonzales presented multiple tax-related items at the Sept. 15 Hondo ISD board meeting, including approval of the certified rolls for Medina and Frio counties, a resolution designating the Superintendent or Business Manager to perform tax-rate calculations, acceptance of the 'no new revenue' tax rate and the voter-approval tax rate, and a resolution to set the tax rate as presented.
Trustees voted on each item in separate motions. The motions passed with all seven trustees recorded as voting 'for' (Philip Rothe, Blake Halbardier, Carey Frazier, Steven Tapia, Ricky Ruiz, Joel Gonzales and Craig Luedke). The board also scheduled the School FIRST public hearing for Oct. 20, 2025 as a related oversight step for district financial transparency.
