South Miami budget adds CIP funds for 65th/64th project, park shade structures and $220,000 for bridge design

At the second hearing, staff reported several capital improvements added or adjusted in the CIP. The presentation noted a nearly-complete design for the 65th Avenue and 64th Street project with a $200,000 addition (temporarily funded from the general fund), added a shade structure at South Miami Park to accompany new swing sets, and revised cost estimates for shade structures at Robert L. Welsh.
Staff also said the debt service fund was increased by $220,000 to pay for proposed design work needed to accommodate the construction methodology for a bridge project. City Manager clarified that approving the budget does not approve the financing approach; decisions on borrowing and vendor selection will return to the commission for separate approvals.
