Tree fund committee approves emerald ash borer treatment for ash at King House

The Helena Bailey Spencer Tree Fund Committee voted unanimously Aug. 3 to treat one of the two ash trees in front of the King House for emerald ash borer and to put that tree on the same multi-year treatment schedule as other treated trees next year. The special meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. via Zoom.
Committee chair Sue Mayne reported the tree’s condition and prompted a motion. "Judy made a motion to have the treatment done this year and to put the tree on the same schedule as others receiving treatments next year," the minutes state. Committee member Judy Hamner moved the motion; Kacy Colston seconded and the vote was recorded as passed by all present. The committee did not provide a treatment cost in the meeting minutes.
The committee did not set a contractor or treatment date in the meeting’s recorded action; members indicated the treated ash will follow the existing schedule used for other treated trees. The committee’s next regular meeting is scheduled for Aug. 20, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. via Zoom.
