HPISD reports STAAR gains in 3rd and 4th grade ELAR; technology standards set for 2024-25

Dr. Shorr Heathcote reported that following implementation of the ELAR (English Language Arts) Framework, Spring 2024 STAAR results showed Highland Park ISD outperformed the state and the district's three high-performing comparison districts at the master's level in both 3rd- and 4th-grade ELAR. Dr. Heathcote also noted other areas for growth that the district will focus on in the coming year.
On technology, staff presented a usage update and reminded trustees that grade-specific technology application standards established in 2022 will be implemented during the 2024–25 academic year.
