The Henderson ISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously on June 8, 2026, to purchase real property contiguous to Henderson High School and to authorize district officials to complete the transaction. Shannon Coats moved to approve the purchase; Dr. John Taylor seconded, and the motion carried 7-0. The board authorized Superintendent Brian Bowman and Board President Russell Brown as signers of the purchase contract and authorized wiring funds for closing as approved by the district attorney.
The board also approved a budget amendment to Function 81 to provide funds for the purchase. Assistant Superintendent/Business official Nikki Warner presented the amendment and the meeting record and attached closing package list the purchase price as $1,000,070.81. The motion to amend Function 81 was made by Justin Scarborough, seconded by Loy Dorsey, and carried 7-0. The board referenced Exhibit A (legal description) and included a recorded warranty deed and HUD-1/closing documents in the meeting materials.
