Board approves fuel, insurance, appraisal district budget, pantry lease and cybersecurity interlocal

The Jefferson ISD board approved several procurement and partnership items during the May 12 meeting. After a brief explanation by Ms. Pearl the board approved the gas/diesel bid from Velvin Oil for the 2026–27 school year on a motion by Trustee Joey Romano, seconded by Trustee Rusty Mauldin; the minutes record the vote as 7‑0.
The board also approved continuing the student supplemental insurance contract with Monarch Management, accepted a small budget increase for the Marion Central Appraisal District tied to an automated system conversion, and approved a lease agreement with Blessings of Grace Food Pantry. Jay Patrick described an interlocal agreement with the University of Texas IT Regional Security Operations Center to provide state‑funded cybersecurity services at no cost to the district; Trustee Lauren Glover moved to approve the interlocal and Trustee Kirstin Johnson seconded, with the motion carried 7‑0.
Each of these items was recorded as having passed unanimously. The minutes do not include contract values or detailed vendor proposals beyond vendor names and the board’s approvals.
