Jefferson ISD board certifies two unopposed trustee candidates, cancels May 2 election

Board member Joey Romano moved to certify Heather Biddy for Place 4 and Rusty Mauldin for Place 5 and to order cancellation of the May 2, 2026 Trustee Election under Section 2.053(a) of the Texas Election Code; Kirstin Johnson seconded the motion, which carried 6-0.
The action removes the need for a May 2 election for the two uncontested seats and was recorded as a formal board motion and vote. The board did not take additional related nominations or rescind the certification during the meeting.
