Benjamin Swanson was sworn in as Beacon’s city administrator at the July 6 City Council meeting. During the ceremony, Swanson repeated the oath: “I, Ben Swanson, do solemnly swear that I will support the Constitution of The United States and the Constitution of the State of New York, and that I will faithfully discharge the duties of city administrator of the City of Beacon, to the best of my ability.” Council members then congratulated him.
Swanson offered brief remarks of thanks after the oath, praising current and past council colleagues and his partner Leah for support. Later in the meeting the council approved the appointment of Elizabeth (Liz) Cloud to the position of senior account clerk typist, a promotion staff said was recommended by the finance director based on expanded duties including work on the water meter upgrade and front-desk responsibilities. The appointment carried on a voice vote.
