Stonington trustees approve two TIF-funded shop additions, authorize construction bids

The Village of Stonington Board of Trustees on Aug. 4 approved two additions to the municipal shop and authorized using TIF funds to pay for them. Trustees voted unanimously to approve up to $19,600 for an 18x18-foot addition and up to $45,000 for a 30x40-foot addition based on bids from Quality Construction & Concrete.
Andrew Callan moved to approve funding for the 18x18 addition; Caleb Grover seconded the motion and the board approved the allocation by a roll-call vote recorded as Wilson “Yea”; Graham “Yea”; Ramsey “Yea”; Grover “Yea”; Callan “Yea”; and Kuntzman “Yea”. Callan later moved, seconded by Kuntzman, to approve up to $45,000 for the 30x40 addition; that motion also passed 6-0. The minutes record the 18x18 bid at $17,800 and note the board approved up to $19,600 from TIF funds to cover the project.
The Village Treasurer and Superintendent were present for the discussion; Superintendent Jake Heberling later thanked the Board for approving the additions. The approvals authorize staff to proceed with contract arrangements consistent with the approved funding limits; the minutes do not specify a construction start date or contractor contract number.
