Village President Bruce Dowdy told trustees the Chief of Police position is based on a 50‑hour salaried work week and that existing Employee Handbook language does not clearly reflect how limited light‑duty hours or partial disability should be handled. Dowdy said clarifying the handbook will help ensure consistent pay and leave practices moving forward.
Trustees agreed to place the handbook‑language clarification on the Aug. 4, 2025 meeting agenda for further consideration. The board did not adopt any handbook changes at the July 14 meeting; staff were asked to draft proposed language and return with the item for discussion and possible action.
