County completes chip-and-seal, finishes 7.5-mile Wells Creek stabilization using Permazyme product

Road & Bridge Supervisor Josh Hinch reported that the chip-and-seal project on Mission Valley Road is complete and that crews had completed significant pre-patching work to prepare the road surface. Commissioner Boyd Ivan Davis said the county spent about $45,000 on asphalt patching ahead of the chip-and-seal to smooth the road.
Hinch also reported that the Wells Creek Road stabilization project finished on July 15, covering 7.5 miles over seven working days. Crews crowned the road to a 4–5% grade to prevent standing water; the Permazyme product used on the project penetrated about 9 inches. The operation used 230,000 gallons of water sourced locally from Steven Holz to reduce haul time and cost. Hinch said he will monitor the road surface for 6–8 weeks and patch any emerging washboards or chuck holes as needed.
