Board adopts new recess guidance: minimum 30 minutes and wet-bulb safety metric

SHAC presenters said the metric better aligns with heat-stress science and the district will provide a website link so parents and staff can view local conditions. Trustees praised the recommendation and asked clarifying questions about transition and total period time (administration estimated about five minutes for in/out transitions in typical practice).
The measure passed 7—'0 and the board thanked SHAC members for their work; staff will post guidance and the underlying temperature data sources for parent reference.
