The Town of Charleston Planning Board reported that approximately 20% of the comprehensive-plan surveys have been received, a rate the board said is in line with the national average. Board members said paper responses still need to be tabulated before the first community workshop, which the minutes list as "this coming Saturday" from 9–11.
Amanda Peterson, vice chair and a member of the Comprehensive Plan Committee, summarized the survey themes: a town park, a playground, a community farmers market, more community participation events and stronger support for farming. The minutes note that Amy will deliver the presentation at the workshop and that committee members, including Mike Martuscello, will add input. The board also arranged for someone at the transfer station the morning of the workshop to invite residents; at the time of the meeting the minutes recorded about a dozen townspeople planning to attend.
