Keller ISD reports midyear MAP gains in some grades, flags 4th grade for focus

Miss Price presented a midyear report on MAP assessment results and how the district uses MAP to track both achievement and growth.
"We can look at midyear data and make course corrections," Miss Price said, explaining that MAP allows the district to monitor beginning‑, middle‑ and end‑of‑year performance and growth. She reported decreases in the percentage of kindergarten students scoring in the low and low‑average buckets and increases in the high/high‑average tiers at midyear in several elementary grades. She noted fourth grade as an area of continued attention.
Administrators and trustees discussed using MAP to identify students who slipped between fall and midyear scores and to target interventions: principals are asked to use MAP's quadrant/quintile reports to form small groups, set student goals and schedule tutoring or reteaching. Dr. Wilson and instructional staff emphasized the district will not routinely reassign students midyear but will use data to form interventions and professional learning for teachers.
