The Lake Travis ISD Board approved a specific budget outlay of $252,700 to comply with HB 5 (83rd Legislative Session) requirements to separately budget state compensatory education funding for accelerated instruction. Administration said the funds will support summer school, accelerated learning, end-of-course review sessions and educational resources for students who do not perform satisfactorily on EOC assessments.
The motion to approve the HB 5 set-aside was made by Trustee Phillip Davis and seconded by Trustee Natalie Nugent and passed 7-0. District staff stated the outlay is already included in existing budget requests but must be segregated by board action to meet statutory requirements.
