Trustees on Aug. 13 recognized the La Porte ISD Child Nutrition Department for “excellent scores on the Harris County Department of Public Health inspections,” recording an average score of 99 across the district.
Board members named and honored cafeteria managers and department coordinators for their performance. Trustees also recognized Director Ralph Wilkins and his team for obtaining free school meals for district students through the National School Breakfast and Lunch programs; minutes state the board is "grateful for their dedication to take care of the employees of La Porte ISD."
Wilkins provided a nutrition update earlier in the meeting, and the board acknowledged that the department's inspection results and federal program participation are important operational achievements heading into the school year.
