La Porte Independent School District trustees voted Aug. 13 to approve a broad consent agenda that included minutes, contracts, purchases and routine reports, and they approved the district's 2024-25 student code of conduct and student handbook.
Board President Danny Hanks reviewed the items the board designated as consent and Trustee Russell Schoppe moved to approve the package; the motion passed 6 to 0. The consent list included the quarterly investment report, interlocal contracts (including an agreement with the University of Houston'Clear Lake), equipment and furniture purchases, and a resolution (No. 2024-12) to pay employees for missed work days due to Hurricane Beryl.
Trustee Mason Peres separately moved to receive the Financial Reports for June 2024, a motion seconded by Vice President Jeff Martin and approved 6 to 0. The board also approved the 2024-25 Student Code of Conduct and the 2024-25 Student Handbook, each by 6-0 votes after brief discussion.
The board recorded that it approved the 2024-25 Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS) appraisal calendar and list of teacher appraisers as part of the consent action. No public comments were presented during the meeting.
Board records show the meeting began at 6:00 PM, included a closed session, and reconvened in open session for the consent and action items. President Hanks adjourned the meeting at 8:24 PM.
