Nominations for board president and vice-president during the Lake Worth ISD board meeting on Nov. 18, 2024, ended in ties and were tabled. Nominations for president (Mac Belmontes and Armando Velazquez) produced two 3–3 splits; after the second tie the board tabled the vote until the next meeting.
The vice-president nominations (Tammy Thomas and Sonja Norman) produced the same pattern: two ballots that each resulted in 3 votes for Thomas and 3 votes for Norman, after which the board tabled the selection. By contrast, the board successfully appointed Bret Tooke as secretary: Sonja Norman nominated Tooke and he was declared Secretary with 4 ayes (Gallagher, Belmontes, Velazquez and Norman) and 2 abstentions (Thomas and Burt).
