Board approves multiple construction contracts, including $7.56 million agriculture complex GMP

The Lake Travis ISD board approved a series of facilities and construction actions at its Aug. 21 meeting.
The board selected American Constructors for Job Order Contract (JOC) #23-127 to replace the Men's Field House roof at Lake Travis High School; the project is expected to exceed $100,000. Trustees also reviewed recommendations for a Construction Manager At-Risk (CMR) for the Cavalier Stadium renovation and Women’s Field House addition; the evaluation recommended White Construction and the item will be brought for board approval at the Sept. 18 meeting.
For the agriculture building renovation and addition (CMR 23-10), the board approved a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) of $7,557,418 with Zapalac Reed. The scope noted in the minutes includes a new pig barn, an addition to the welding shop, renovations to steer and lamb/goat barns and a new greenhouse. The board authorized the superintendent or his designee to negotiate and execute the GMP and contracts; the motion passed by recorded vote 5–0.
The minutes note that project procurement followed Board Policy CV (Local) and state purchasing requirements; contract awards and larger construction contracts will be presented at upcoming meetings for formal ratification where required.
