Local author presents middle‑and high‑school copies of "Weight of Words" to Lamesa ISD

Superintendent David Ritchey introduced June Hernandez, author of "Weight of Words," at the Oct. 16 Lamesa ISD board meeting. Hernandez thanked her parents and Tina Doster for support through the writing process; the book addresses teenage bullying during her middle school years. Mr. Ritchey had Hernandez sign two copies to be gifted to the middle school and high school libraries.
Hernandez told the board she plans to write more books to help teens navigate school through to graduation, and district leaders expressed appreciation for her visit to the board meeting.
