The Planning Commission of the City of Auburndale met Oct. 7 and took four procedural and substantive actions.
The commission approved the July 8, 2025 minutes (motion by Commissioner Crystal Tijerina; second Commissioner Donishia Yarde) and then voted unanimously to recommend three items to the City Commission: the Community Redevelopment Agency plan update (seeking to extend the CRA to 2052), a small‑scale Future Land Use amendment to allow Polk Regional Water Cooperative facilities at Derby Ave. and Rose St., and a preliminary plat for the 45‑lot Gapway Lakes Estates subdivision. All motions passed with "all ayes." Commissioners present were Dave Holt, Steve Lawson, Crystal Tijerina and Donishia Yarde; Chairman Perry Price and Commissioners Tom Dudash and Jody Miller were absent. The meeting was adjourned at 4:40 p.m.
Next steps: the CRA update will go to the CRA Board Oct. 20, 2025, and to the City Commission on Nov. 3, 2025; the land‑use amendment and preliminary plat recommendations will be transmitted to the City Commission for scheduling and final action.
