Town Board reviews court building bids; CPL recommends MA Schafer, Tech Valley, RMB and Flex Electric

The Town of Claverack Board on June 11 reviewed CPL Architecture/Engineering/Planning's recommendations for awarding contracts for the new town court facility on Main Street.
George Schmidt of CPL summarized the bids and recommended awards. He said the general-construction bids ranged from $497,458 to over $1 million, with the apparent low bidder declared non-responsible; CPL recommended awarding the General Trades contract to MA Schafer Construction for $642,500. On plumbing, CPL recommended Tech Valley Heating as the lowest responsive bidder at $178,269. For mechanical work CPL recommended RMB Mechanical (apparent low $208,000), and for electrical CPL recommended Flex Electric at $376,000 after Allegiant Electric revoked its lower bid. "The bid winners will have two weeks to get all their paperwork to CPL to gather and finalize contracts," Schmidt said.
The recommendations appeared in CPL's written packet, including formal letters from Jonathan DiRocco and bid tabulation sheets that note prevailing-wage, bonding and insurance requirements. The bid tabulations included base-bid amounts and compliance checklists. The board packet lists legal and procurement requirements including New York State prevailing-wage rules, performance and payment bond requirements, and a 5% bid bond or certified check due with proposals.
No formal award vote is recorded in the public minutes excerpt for the June 11 session; the board discussed the recommendations and the documents will be used to finalize contracts once the recommended contractors supply documentation. CPL's written recommendation letters are part of the meeting packet and identify the recommended low, responsive bidders for each trade.
