Llano Junior High student showcases growing chess program, invites board to tournaments

Llano Junior High Principal Neda Bauman introduced student Cameron “CJ” Ares, who presented the junior high chess program to the Board of Trustees on Oct. 28. Bauman described the student’s role in developing the program; the minutes record the student presentation and invitations to upcoming events.
The student invited the board to two chess tournaments: Nov. 12 at Llano Elementary and Nov. 15 at Packsaddle Elementary, both beginning at 4:00 p.m. The minutes provide no extended discussion beyond the invitation and recognition of the program.
Trustees did not take action on the presentation beyond the invitation to attend the events. The appearance was recorded under Informational Items in the agenda.
