Superintendent Mac Edwards explained that districts/campuses may request a waiver to excuse instructional days from ADA and FSP funding calculations when attendance is at least 10 percentage points below the prior school year’s average for the district or affected campus due to inclement weather, health, or safety‑related issues. The motion to authorize seeking the waiver was made by Rob Wilson and seconded by Lance Dillard; the vote was unanimous.
The board did not specify the percentage‑point shortfall in the minutes beyond saying attendance on Sept. 12–13 was "significantly lower than last year's average attendance." District staff will prepare and submit the waiver application to TEA.
