At the Nov. 18 meeting the board approved a resolution adopting non-business days under HB 3033 (88th Texas Legislature, 2023), which amended the Texas Public Information Act to allow school districts to designate up to 10 additional non-business days per calendar year.
Trustee Jeff Kuykendall moved and Trustee Lance Dillard seconded the resolution, and the board approved it unanimously. Exhibit A attached to the resolution lists the district’s selected non-business days for the 2024 calendar, including state and federal holidays and additional district-designated dates (examples include Jan. 2, 2025; March 19–21, 2025; Dec. 29–31, 2025). The designation is intended to align the district’s response calendar for public information requests with its instructional calendar.
The board authorized the superintendent to take necessary steps to implement the designation for purposes of responding to public information requests under the Texas Public Information Act.
