Cemetery administrator asks city to accept complaints and create a written form

Cemetery Administrator Kenny Pope told the council he would like the city to accept cemetery complaints rather than referring residents back to him. He requested the council create a written complaint form to standardize how concerns are filed.
Pope said many problems at the cemetery are rooted in the site's age and topography: "it is old with 40 to 50 year old stones, it is on the side of a mountain, damaged or sunken stones and ground changes are weather related and not just due to mower mishaps". He also noted that existing cemetery bylaws are not always adhered to and that the cemetery holds biannual cleanups and seeks volunteers.
