Lindsay ISD honors students, celebrates state and UIL finishes

The Lindsay Independent School District Board of Trustees opened its May 20 regular meeting by recognizing April Students of the Month and several state-level academic and athletic achievements. Superintendent Steve Cope listed honorees across elementary and secondary grades and thanked coaches and staff for supporting students who advanced to state competitions.
Cope called out individual performances at the state level: Dani Jo Fleitman was commended as back-to-back state champion in the high jump, with additional placings in triple jump (4th) and 100m hurdles (8th). Other athletes noted included Wes Swaney (7th in shot put, 8th in discus), Joe Manhart (5th in long jump), and Eleanor Neu (9th in triple jump). The UIL academic teams also had strong showings: the Science team was state champion for a second consecutive year, Number Sense took first place, Social Studies placed third, and individual competitors placed in persuasive speaking and interpretation events.
Board members and administrators framed the recognitions as part of the district’s broader extracurricular achievements for the year and applauded coaches and students for their preparation and results. The recognitions were presented before the regular business agenda and received no formal vote.
