The Lubbock ISD Board of Trustees voted 7-0 Aug. 28 to create a Dual Language Committee charged with evaluating dual language programs and models approved by the state and recommending a single model for district-wide use. Trustee Lala Chavez moved the committee’s creation; Trustee Ryan Curry seconded the motion.
The measure directs district staff to convene the committee and review existing state-approved program models; the minutes indicate the committee will return a recommendation to the board after evaluation. The committee's formation is intended to promote consistency across bilingual and dual-language instruction in district schools.
