250th Anniversary events draw large local turnout; volunteers repair beach pavilion tables

D. Roberts, representing the 250th Anniversary Committee, updated the board on the town's anniversary events and community activities. Roberts reported the Firecracker Race drew 184 participants, an estimated 35–38 boats joined the boat parade, and about 50 people attended the ice-cream social where Paul Gehrig and family read the Declaration of Independence.
Roberts said two picnic tables at the beach pavilion have been repaired in-house and work is underway on a third after ADK Rustics indicated it no longer performs that type of work. The committee listed upcoming events including a community picnic on July 19, a movie night on July 31 (Drums Along the Mohawk), and campfire storytelling on August 1.
The board thanked volunteers for their work and heard an update on loon-nest failures reported by Griffith Archibald; the Conservancy started the year with three nests but all failed after predators accessed them.
