The Town of Clifton board held a public hearing at 6:15 p.m. on April 8, 2026, to consider Local Law #3-2026 (Local Litter Law) and Local Law #4-2026 (Unsafe Building Law). Supervisor William Griffin opened the hearing and the board heard public concerns asking for clearer language on penalties, enforcement timeframes and who would be responsible for cleanup.
Public commenters raised several operational questions, including whether the highway department or an outside contractor would perform litter removal, whether the town would provide a dumpster, and who would determine what constitutes “rubbish.” The transcript records that the two draft laws are identical to the Town of Fine’s ordinances and that attendees asked for revisions to improve clarity. After listening to public comment, the board decided to revisit both proposals and tabled them until the June meeting.
No formal vote to adopt either law was taken. The hearing was adjourned at 6:59 p.m.; a motion to adjourn the hearing was made by Council Member John Russell with a second by Council Member Ray Campany and carried 5-0.
