Resident asks what happens to sanitation funds and farm proceeds after department dissolution

Brent McDaniels, a resident who identified himself for the record, told the council he wanted to know what would happen to any money left after paying debts and selling equipment now that the sanitation department no longer exists. "I just have a, couple of questions here. Just here to see what's gonna happen with any of the money remaining after paying any of the debts and selling equipment since we don't have a sanitation department anymore," McDaniels said.
Steve (city official) responded that the city plans to transfer the farm from sanitation control and that future proceeds are expected to be moved into the general fund. "Future funds will go into the general fund," Steve said, and he added that the city plans to present equipment sales and other matters to committees and resolve outstanding invoices before any funds are allocated. He said the city will likely wait until after the first of the year to make final decisions on disbursement, pending invoices and utility payments.
Council members and staff also discussed sequencing for selling equipment with no municipal value, the need to reconcile data that did not transfer from Mid Ohio, and how Rumpke — the new sanitation contractor — is addressing pickup issues. The city said it will coordinate committee briefings about sale plans and scheduling and will communicate further when details are finalized.
