At the start of its April 13 meeting the Magnolia ISD Board of Trustees recognized students and staff across the district.
The board acknowledged Bear Branch Junior High eighth‑grader Isaac Jones and J.L. Lyon Elementary fourth‑grader Marco Guevara as students of the month for April. The board also recognized Alex Tu'akalau as April Teacher of the Month; Dr. Brandon Garza and Principal Julia Venghaus were listed as presenters for the teacher recognition. Magnolia High School Floral Design and Culinary Arts students provided arrangements and cupcakes for the meeting.
The board also recognized the Superintendent's Student Leadership Cohort, a group of 23 juniors from both high schools designed to develop character strengths and leadership skills, and congratulated both high schools for top honors at the Academic Decathlon. The recognitions were presented before a short recess and drew brief acknowledgments from trustees recorded in the minutes.
