The Lovejoy Independent School District Board of Trustees adopted the district's 2026–2027 budget and approved the proposed tax rate on June 15, voting unanimously 7–0. President Julie McLaughlin opened the public hearing on the budget and proposed tax rate at 8:14 PM; Chief Financial Officer Thomas Willman presented the budget to trustees prior to the vote.
Trustee Barrett Owens moved to adopt the budget and proposed tax rate; Trustee Mark Wheelis seconded the motion and the board recorded a unanimous vote. The minutes record that the motion was "Passed. Yea:7 , Nay: 0, Absent: 0 Abstained: 0." The board closed the public hearing at 8:27 PM and then took formal action to adopt the budget.
