"Considering that parents and guardians have a voice in what their students are accessing in our libraries, it's being recommended that we adjust the policy so that parents and guardians will have the sole decision to opt their student into access of all young adult fiction or higher age level books," Dr. Tinsley said. Trustees discussed communications to families, maintaining a public reconsideration process, and a weeding log for removed titles. The administration said unauthorized access by a student who has not been opted in would be treated as a student‑code violation and that code-of-conduct language will be brought to the July meeting.
