The Marquette County Board of Health voted Aug. 5 to approve the proposed 2026 Health Department budget and forward it to County Administrator Ron Barger for review and then to the Executive and Finance committees.
Health Officer Jayme Sopha presented the proposed 2026 budget and outlined how it differs from the 2025 budget, noting additions such as revenue from the RIC and TNC programs and salary adjustments for recently onboarded staff. "Motion by Gary Sorenson, seconded by Dave Benson to approve the 2026 Health Department Budget as presented by Jayme to be forwarded to Ron for review and then to Executive and Finance for approval. Motion carried," the minutes record.
Board members discussed the proposed budget and asked questions about timing for a potential third environmental health employee; the board approved the proposal for referral to county review.
