Board approves Hepatitis B vaccine fee hike to $255

The Marquette County Board of Health voted Aug. 5 to raise the fee for the three-dose Hepatitis B vaccine from $210 to $255 to cover rising vaccine purchase costs and supplies.
Health Officer Jayme Sopha told the board that the Hepatitis B vaccine is purchased directly by the department and is not state-funded. "We were charging $210 for the 3 dose series, but are asking to increase it to $255 to cover the new price," Sopha said, adding that the increase includes a small buffer for syringes, alcohol swabs and to help absorb future cost increases.
Mike Raddatz moved to approve the fee increase and Kathleen McGwin seconded; the motion carried. The board did not provide a roll-call tally in the meeting minutes. The department will apply the new fee to future vaccine administrations and said the adjustment is intended to preserve access while covering program costs.
