Medina ISD board holds closed session on personnel, returns with no action

The Medina Independent School District Board of Trustees met in special session on Jan. 29, 2025, at the Medina ISD Administration Building Conference Room. President Brad Zirkel called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m., noting that a quorum was present and that notice had been posted under the Texas Open Meetings Act.
At 6:02 p.m. President Brad Zirkel adjourned the regular meeting into closed session under Texas Government Code, Chapter 551.074, the statute the minutes identify as governing personnel deliberations. Trustee Brian Hill gave the invocation earlier in the meeting. The board returned to open session at 8:45 p.m.; the minutes state, "No action was taken."
Following the return to open session, Trustee LaNek Sides moved to adjourn the meeting; Trustee AJ Stern seconded. The motion carried 7-0, and President Zirkel adjourned the meeting at 8:46 p.m. The minutes list the following trustees as present: Brad Zirkel (President), David Derry (Vice President), Thomas Wickham (Secretary), Brian Hill, Sarah Holcomb, LaNek Sides and AJ Stern. Superintendent Lindsey Kunz was also present.
