Board adopts EIC (Local) revisions clarifying class ranking and valedictorian criteria

The Board of Trustees approved proposed changes to Board Policy EIC (Local) governing Academic Achievement and Class Ranking.
Executive Director Yarda Leflet presented the revisions, which clarify how credit earned by examination counts toward high school credit, how pass/fail coursework transferred into Marble Falls ISD will be treated for GPA and rank, and additional criteria that will apply to valedictorian and salutatorian selection beginning with the Class of 2029. The board also directed administration to review transcripts of currently enrolled transfer students who have GPA-bearing classes assigned a pass/fail grade and to assign the grades recorded on original transcripts from unaccredited schools where applicable.
Trustees voted to adopt the policy revisions unanimously. The changes were presented as a means to provide consistent treatment of transferred coursework and to set transparent rules for top graduate recognition going forward.
