Nathan Nelson was elected chair of the Buffalo County Economic Development Committee at its Aug. 5 meeting after a paper-ballot vote, and Gary Stanton was appointed vice-chair by unanimous voice vote.
The nomination process began when Lee Engfer explained that chair and vice-chair positions are restricted to County Board supervisors and that John Hadley, described in the record as a citizen member, would not be eligible for those offices. Gary Stanton nominated Nelson for chair; John Hadley nominated Stanton. After the paper ballot, Nelson assumed the role and called nominations for vice-chair; Michael Taylor nominated Stanton, and a unanimous voice vote filled that position. The record shows the committee completed the organizational votes without further debate.
