Wisconsin Department of Transportation staff updated the commission on several state projects affecting Buffalo County on July 16.
Rick Tumaniec described the Waumandee Creek Bridge overlay as a staged operation using temporary signals and estimated the work would last about 60 days, with an anticipated August start after environmental restrictions lift and a tentative completion of Sept. 21. He also summarized the Hwy 54 (Minnesota side) and WI Hwy 35 resurface work, which began April 24 but was suspended until Aug. 15 because of environmental restrictions; remaining punch‑list and culvert work are outstanding. Finally, he said work on Hwy 10 (Pepin County line to County Rd A) began June 30 and is expected to finish in mid‑August, with flagging used for traffic control on some projects.
No vote or formal county direction followed the DOT updates; county and DOT staff shared timelines and traffic control plans.
