The Marble Falls Independent School District Board of Trustees on June 15 adopted the 2026–2027 budget, which the district presented as a fourteen-month fiscal period covering July 1, 2026 through Aug. 31, 2027.
Chief Financial Officer Bill Orr explained the budget framework and recommended moving the district fiscal year end to Aug. 31 “to provide more accurate information for budget development, better align the district's fiscal calendar with state legislative and appraisal district timelines, and allow the tax rate and budget to be adopted concurrently.” Trustees unanimously approved the fiscal-year change and the budget adoption, with the board adding $220,000 to function 11 (instruction) during the vote.
Board President Alex Payson opened a public hearing on the proposed budget at 6:29 p.m.; Orr presented the proposal and there were no public comments. The hearing was closed at 6:39 p.m. Multiple votes on the budget and related fiscal-year change were unanimous: all seven trustees present voted in favor.
The approved 2026–2027 package will run July 1, 2026–Aug. 31, 2027, representing an atypical 14-month fiscal period created to transition the district’s fiscal calendar as recommended by district finance leadership. The board recorded its adoption and associated motions in the minutes.
