Sheriff’s Office representative Jake Laehn said the department ran an extra CAD patrol after a culvert-related speeding report. Ryan Howell provided specifics on the crashes: “the first motorcycle accident was on April 22 and it was a 89-year-old male that was wearing a helmet and he missed a turn, the second one was on May 30th on Hy 37 and they had lost control and they were not wearing a helmet, and the last one was on June 6th on hy 37 as well and that one was caused by a deer running into him and throwing him off of the bok and he was not wearing a helmet.”
The commission did not record a formal action on the report; members discussed patrol activity and acknowledged the information as presented. The conversation highlighted helmet use and animal‑strike risks as contributing factors in the incidents, and the Sheriff’s Office said it would continue targeted enforcement where patterns emerge.
