At its June 15 meeting the Midlothian ISD Board authorized the superintendent to negotiate and execute contracts to purchase student technology devices using Proposition C bond funds at a not-to-exceed cost of $5.15 million.
"A motion was made that the Board authorize the Superintendent to negotiate and execute the purchase of student devices and the consignment of current inventory (old devices) for sale, using bond funds under Proposition C, at a not-to-exceed price of $5.15M," Trustee Gary Vineyard moved; Brandi Vess seconded and the motion passed 5 0to 0 with two trustees absent. The authorization allows district staff to sell replaced devices through consignment as part of the procurement plan.
The board did not discuss vendor names or detailed device counts during the public meeting. The motion delegates purchasing authority to the superintendent within the $5.15 million cap and ties funding to the previously approved Proposition C bond program.
