Midway ISD adopts EFB(LOCAL) library policy to comply with Senate Bill 13

The board approved EFB(LOCAL) – ALT as its library materials acquisition policy to comply with Senate Bill 13 (89th Legislature), a change presented by Assistant Superintendent Dr. Becky Odajima that will take effect Sept. 1.
Assistant Superintendent Dr. Becky Odajima told the board that Senate Bill 13 (89th Legislature), which takes effect Sept. 1, requires the district to adopt a policy for acquisition of library materials. The district recommended the EFB(LOCAL) – ALT policy to implement new processes and to evaluate whether those measures address students’, parents’ and community needs.
EFB(LOCAL) was listed on the meeting’s consent agenda (Item 11) and was approved as part of the board’s 12-item consent motion that carried 6–0. The district said it will implement the policy and monitor whether the procedures meet statutory requirements and local expectations.
