Trustee Colin Witt updated the Board on his outreach to the University Interscholastic League regarding streaming broadcast rights for playoff games. Witt outlined a proposal for districts to own their broadcast rights through each playoff level up to the state finals and said he will present a formal resolution for the Board's consideration in July.
Witt told trustees the district aims to coordinate with other Texas districts to present a united position to the UIL Legislative Council in October. The update was informational; no formal board action was taken at the June 16 meeting.
If approved by the Board in July, the resolution would be a policy stance for coordinated advocacy to the UIL about media rights and district control over broadcasts prior to the state finals.
