Board approves $1.33 million GMP amendment for high school athletics addition

The Midway ISD Board of Trustees voted to approve Guaranteed Maximum Price Amendment One for the High School Athletics Addition (Package 1) with Mazanec Construction in the amount of $1,327,908. The administration recommended approval and the Board delegated authority to the superintendent or his designee to negotiate and execute the GMP amendment.
Aaron Mynar of Mazanec Construction presented Package 1 work, which includes building pad preparation, storm sewer installation, and relocation of an existing gas line around the building pad. Mynar told trustees there was strong local contractor interest and that Package 1 is currently under budget. Trustee Jordan Barry moved approval and Trustee Brad Alford seconded; the motion passed 6-0 with Trustee Stephen Carl absent.
The delegation allows district staff to finalize contract documents and proceed with the approved scope for Package 1. Board materials indicate the administration will continue oversight of costs and contingencies across the bond program.
