Midlothian ISD board approves consent agenda, clears contract for Nov. 5 election

The Midlothian ISD Board of Trustees approved the bulk of its consent agenda during the Sept. 16 meeting, taking separate votes on pulled items before adjourning.
Trustees first approved the consent agenda as presented, with three items pulled for separate consideration (Gifts/Donations; Update 123 policy revisions; and the election contract). "The motion passed with a vote of 7-0," the record shows. Trustees then addressed the pulled items individually.
Item B (Gifts and Donations) passed 6-0-1 after Trustee Richard Peña abstained because a donation he made appeared on the consent list. Item C (LEGAL and LOCAL policy revisions in Update 123, Part I) was approved unanimously, 7-0. For Item F, the election contract with the Ellis County Elections Office for the Nov. 5, 2024 election, the board approved the contract; the minutes record the motion passed 6-1, with Trustee Ed Harrison noted as voting against the motion.
All votes were recorded on the public record. The board also passed a separate resolution to change Texpool and Lone Star authorized signers and approved a Title I Ed‑Flex schoolwide eligibility waiver for TE Baxter Elementary as part of consent business.
The board had moved into and out of closed session earlier in the meeting; no actions arising from closed session were reported at reconvening.
