The Board of Trustees of MULESHOE ISD voted on Aug. 12, 2024 to set the district's 2024-25 tax rate at $1.0888 per $100 of assessed value, comprised of a maintenance and operations rate of $0.8238 and an Interest and Sinking rate of $0.2650.
Board member Kevin Morris moved to adopt the tax rate and Steve Clifton seconded; the motion passed with five votes in favor, zero opposed and one member absent. Earlier in the meeting the board moved to designate Myles James as the district's Truth in Taxation calculator (motion by Brett Bamert; second by Dusty Stone), a procedural appointment to prepare necessary calculations and public notices related to the tax rate.
The votes come after financial reports and staff presentations earlier in the agenda. The adoption of the rate authorizes district staff to complete required public notices and tax-rate filings in compliance with state timelines. The board recorded the roll call showing Ashley Turnbow (President), Kevin Morris, Steve Clifton, Dusty Stone and Brett Bamert present; Jesus Tovar Jr. absent.
What happens next: district staff will finalize and publish the Truth in Taxation calculations and required notices; the tax rate as adopted will be used for the 2024-25 budget and tax collections unless further board action is taken.
