Land bank eyes 40-acre housing parcel; road commission explains standards for county road acceptance

Director (Speaker 2) explained the Road Commission’s current policy for accepting new roads into the county system: roads proposed for addition must be hard-surface with pavement and must include a dedicated right-of-way (he cited 33 feet on each side of centerline). The director said the commission is willing to review proposals and noted tradeoffs between the commission completing the work and contracting to private firms, emphasizing the commission’s preference not to take work away from local contractors solely to do county projects.
