The Board approved the substantial and final completion payment for the K. White Jr. High electronic marquee as part of the consent agenda. Administration said the marquee project cost the district about $63,000 including design and soft costs; the marquee hardware alone was cited near $50,000 with about $7,000 in design and other soft costs.
Trustees used the discussion to ask about the status of marquees districtwide. District staff said about 14 campuses plus Central Office still use older manual-letter marquees; newer or renovated campuses have digital marquees. Administration described funding approaches in past practice—campus fundraising, PTO support, or local campus savings—and said it would research insurance proceeds from storm damage and potential districtwide funding options if the board wanted a coordinated replacement plan.
